The future of brainstorming: Innowise implements the Noda mind-mapping app into HTC’s most awarded VR headset

Innowise specialists port Noda – a space in virtual reality for building and sharing 3D mental models – to the brand-new VIVE XR Elite VR platform from HTC VIVE. The application allows users to represent their thoughts by creating 3D maps, patterns, storyboards, flow diagrams, or project plans through body movements and voice.

Noda will be fully available on the powerful and versatile Vive XR Elite Headset, which has become available for pre-order in January 2023. Innowise collaborated with the app developer Coding Leap LLC to support the app adaptation to the new platform in addition to the already functioning Oculus Quest, Oculus Rift, Steam, and VivePort.

Thanks to the application porting, users will have a unique opportunity to try all the features of real-time mind mapping, benefiting from crisscrossing realities with vibrant, high-resolution XR passthrough. The multiplayer functionality from Noda allows users to build mental models and invite others to collaborate, co-create and explore the paths and structures of ideas. Combined with VIVE XR Elite, this tool will provide a new level of immersion in brainstorming, building concepts, and visualizing thoughts across multidimensional virtual spaces.

We supported Coding Leap LLC with porting, validating, and stabilizing key project features on the new platform, including hand tracking, the passthrough with a full-color RGB camera, and voice recognition. While porting to the VIVE XR Elite, our specialists used the VIVE OpenXR SDK because of its ease of use and agility.

The XR Interaction Toolkit package has been implemented as an integration system due to the built-in Unity support for various headsets, which will subsequently help automatically support Noda on other XR devices in the future and provide more opportunities to expand existing functions.
